Why do we need Scott Parker?

Like many of you I woke up to the news blurting out of West Ham this morning that they had ‘rejected a bid from Tottenham for midfielder Scott Parker’ according to chairman David Sullivan.

My initial reaction was that of confusion. In fact I’m still trying to get my head around this one. Why on Earth do we want Scott Parker? Is this our marquee signing for the summer and the player that will help us to push for 4th spot again this season? A player that’s a mere skid mark on the ability of Luka Modric and Niko Kranjcar and with other centre midfielders Thud, Wilson, Jenas and new boy Sandro available to play in the same position.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that has begun starting to get a little anxious with the season a little under three weeks away and Redknapp not bringing in one of his ‘three players’ that he believes we need. I don’t feel Scott Parker is the right player required to bring us forward or in a position that we need filling.

What do you make of this story?

Regards.
