Luka worries.

You'd have to have had your head in the sand for the last month or so to be oblivious to the clear-as-glass fact that United are after Luka. It brings no surprises as the guy's been truly phenomenal in the three years he's played in the lilywhite.

So, Levy gave us the no big names will be leaving line and Luka himself welcomed the comment and reassured us that he will be at Spurs next year. Happy, satisfied, worries over? Not quite.

There seems to be an ignition point somewhere that keeps these rumours burning. Bored unadventurous journo's you may say, but something is keeping these rumours alive. It's been strongly reported today that Spurs are willing to accept £25m for our magician. 25 MIL! How much was Fernando's move to West London?

Has Levy already got the pound signs in his eyes, has Harry gone mad? We shouldn't be looking to entertain any offers. The player wants to stay. He's not stupid, he'll know of the interest surrounding him but he continues to commit to Tottenham so why oh why oh why on Earth would we give him up for a few extra quid into Levy's pocket?

I wake up almost with concern that a deal for Modric will suddenly appear on Sky Sports, it's not even June yet. Letting Modders leave will be like losing a leg, we'd be blown out the water in the race for fourth. Have a spine Levy.

Triple it, throw in Berba and Rooney then just maybe we'll have a second glance.

Luka Modric

So a 0-0 draw at home to United where we couldn't really find the answers to break down their back four. Crouch letting Sir Alex off the hook early in the first half after missing a sitter and Rafa failing to find the net with his head and going close very late on. Although there were a whole team of 'Man of the matches' today, this game summed up Luka Modric for us in a nut shell and just how important to the side he is.

With Bale and Rafa gaining most of the plaudits this season, Luka has been quietly going about his business doing a fantastic job for Spurs on the pitch. The Croatian has filled in for Tommy fantastically, sitting in as the deep play maker controlling the game, and has become the real heart of the present Tottenham side. The player was like a magnet to ball today, consistently eager to be on the ball or fighting to win it back showing a real drive and desire to win the game in midfield for us against a United side that were made to look very ordinary.

It's easy to give Bale and Rafa all the plaudits this season, they're our top scorers and have been in fantastic form this season. Although, I'd hate to think how we would've coped without our Croatian magician running the show this season, spreading the ball to either flank and bringing the likes of Rafa into the game whilst not afraid to stick a tackle in. We're finally getting a squad together that has the potential to achieve anything, let's hope we can keep hold of these players.

Why Spurs can win on Saturday

Now I'm not the most optimistic fan you'll ever meet although casting a mind back to last season I do, like many thousands of football fans out there, believe we would have taken all three points over United weren't it not for the man in black.

Howard Webb bottled it. We know it. He knows it. But, thankfully, he will not be taking charge of Saturday's game. So, let's hope that Mr Clattenburg doesn't full to the pressure of many United 'fans' that will be seated in Old Trafford when decisions don't go their way.

The non-existance of Mr Webb at this fixture is music to the ears. Music that brings a sense of happiness to us. Although, this season, we have two players wearing the cockerel on their chest that could turn this game in faviour of us. No prizes of predicting who in the sense of our Dutch supremo Rafa and a rejuvanted young Welshman that would can cause more problems than Hicks and Gillet to a football side.

On top of these factors, the absence of Rooney can only be a good thing and hopefully the defence can handle our former miserable Bulgarian up front with Hernandez, should he take part.

How we miss our little man

I'll keep this short but no so sweet. I'm sure many of you saw the game against the United bunch this evening returning home with little to smile about. In what was a very dry performance that began with a fanatic start, Giggs' goal seemed to knock us further back than we had been all season. Our heads dropped, the midfield didn't turn and we were playing their game.. and this was on half time at 1-1.

Our boys needed a reminder that we were above United in the league and losing, especially at home, had so far not been on the agenda. The second half brought little change, bar Palacios coming off after a somewhat lacklustre performance, and Jenas appearing for the first time this season to replace him.

We played United's game today and looked dismal, especially in Midfield. The creative flair and excitement we had produced in the four previous games seemed to vanish when Modric did. Boy is it going to be hard without him. Lennon was quiet, Huddlestone couldn't pass and Keane, well, he was just poor. Even with 10 men United looked as though they had an extra player on the pitch and found, what was anticipated to be a tough test, a real walk in the park.

So there you have it. Our first full game without Modric and we lacked that creative spark down the left flank; or for that matter, we lacked it all over the pitch. Let's hope a week in training with our boys will do Kranjcar good and he can step up to the mark in time for next Sunday.

But still though, let's try and not get to disheartened, we've got Chelsea at their place next week.

The FA hate Tottenham

As I'm sure many of you did, I was quick to ensure I was at a computer today at 10.00am eagerly anticipating the fixture list for next season. Why this is so exciting, I don't know. I looked at our first game in hope that finally, for the first time for donkey's, we may actually get a home game. For the last few seasons, we have always been allocated awkward ties such as Sunderland, 'Boro and Bolton away- the teams we seem to never really get much at. Coincidence? I'll let you decide that.

So I browse at our home fixture for the start of the 2009/2010 season and find that yes, we have a home game, but it is also against Liverpool- a team that only lost twice in the league last year and will be looking to pip United to the Premiership.. finally. Now, I'm not 100% sure how the fixtures are drawn, but it always seems to be that we never come out with a 'nice' start to the season. The last time we won on opening day was in 2004, and that was still away from home against-then newly promoted Portsmouth.

Sir Alex complained last year about how 'unfair' United's fixture list is but, unsurprisingly, they are at home- again. Their run-in looks a lot nicer this season, maybe Harry should have a big moan at the FA, we may then have a decent start for the first time in half a decade. I also notice that in the last five weeks of the season we play Arsenal, Chelsea and United away from home consecutively, thanks.

So there we have it, another poor start to the season will see us stuck amongst the foot of the league- we should almost be use to it by now.

Cheeky Ronaldo bid from Spurs

I woke up this morning and read, like all of us, of the bargain £80,000,000 bid for Cristiano Ronaldo. Still though, the amount we've spent on our squad could easily amount to double that and, in Daniel Levy's eyes, I'm sure £80m is a snip at what he'd be willing to pay. But still, according to Redknapp, we're challenging for the Champions League next year and surely the best player in the world in our side would help us a bit.

I for one, assuming he doesn't come to Spurs, would be glad to see the back of him. I don't understand why any other English club bar United would be 'disappointed to see him go'. Oh yes of course, I love seeing him terrorise my side twice a season and will miss it dearly. All the goals he scored against us, what a shame that it is not going to happen again. I cry myself to sleep every night with this thought in my head.

Still though, being a Spurs fan these days I don't know what to expect, and I wait in hope that one morning I will wake up and see Spurs have submitted a similar bid to Madrid. Oh how I'd laugh if we did. £80m? we better get selling..
