Harry's disappointment leaves contentment amongst fans

So it looks as though old Patrick won't be wearing the white (and yellow) of Spurs next year and I could never make head or tail as to why we were trying to pinch him from Jose in the first place. All it did was leave a frown across my face and bloody endless discussion on the matter.

All you had to do was scroll down the Tottenham team sheet and see Modric, Palacios, Jenas and Huddlestone all written down. Throw in a couple of the younger players and bang- before you know it we're over-populated in the middle, yet we're willing to throw more money at a 'problem' that doesn't exist.

I can't see anyone other than Huddlestone as immediate back-up for the centre midfield role and knocking him down into the reserves wouldn't leave him, or many of us, to cheerful. He'd pack his bags and run up to Villa the moment Vieira turned up at Spurs Lodge.

Lately 'Arry has said that he's no longer confident of getting the old Arsenal captain as he suddenly went 'very quiet' amid our interest. But this still leaves a big question as to why we were after him. Maybe he thought it'd soften the disappointment of old Campbell.. err, no.

Maybe Redknapp was getting bored of the same old faces warming the bench and wanted to bring in another to add variety- well he ain't starting in place of Modric or Wilson, that's for damn sure.

There reaches a point where 'experience' just means an old bloke can't do what he use to. Patrick Vieira fits nicely into that description.

Regards.

  2. I have inside info! He was here in LA a week ago
I think Viera will be coming before the end of the week.
He said he was worried about Spurs fans reaction and that's
    it.
I'll know for sure today, I played a match before the Inter Chelsea game!

  3. 11:37. Stop this ITK rubbish. You played a match? BS. Vieira should stay where he is. We don't want or need him.

  4. Very good points raised. Unless if Jenas is demoted to the bench can't see where such a player will fit in

  5. you are joking ! a problem does exist. And the problem is goals from cm.Viera would be last choice on earth and is the wrong type of player anyway. We need a box to box goalscorer with a creative mind who will open doors and run beyond the strikers when needed. We need a cm who is going to get 10 - 15 premier league goals

  6. when you say that "we're willing to throw more money at a 'problem' that doesn't exist," I am unclear if you are talking about Barcelona's midfield or Spurs'?

Happy Harry has the right idea in that we do not have a natural leader on the pitch. The only reason he wanted Bellamy was to wind up the rest of the players as they are all too nice and polite.

As a player, Viera is past it, but as a concept the need for a real leader is spot-on. The problem does exist and unless it is fixed, please look forward to another mid-table season.

  7. viera will never play for spurs full stop, why u guys persist in such nonsense is beyond me, we as fans would never want that french muppet in the lilywhite of tottenham lmfao we got some great talent coming throu why waste our money on mf when we desparately need defenders? get real guys stop believing the hype :P coys

  8. what is wrong with you lot are yoou blind do you not see that Wilson is the only midfield player worth his salt amongst all this lot Jenas has never looked up to it neither The Fat hud they were walked through by Barca and Celtic and they were the home team. one CM one CD and swap The Hunter for Pav that looks like a good team with Mod and Gio to choose from on the left

  9. IF you asked 10 fans to name there team it wouldn't be the same, We all know we spend money but not how we have b4. The best thing we're doing is sending players out on loan. If the rumours are true no centre halves where are our leaders on the pitch, for me sadly king is finished woodgate is dodgy i'd buy bassong & taylor, send bale out on loan, buy poulsen from juventes the youngster from leeds.
There'd still be dead wood i'd out, Keane, hudd, jenas, bentley, chimbonda & hutton £55 million then introduce the youngsters as back up make palacios captain, there you go i've made levy happy he's got money in the bank, were make europe & be hard to beat away from home???

  10. Personally I think we could do with a winner in the team to teach those tarts in our currnet midfield how to boss a game. Palacios can't do the job on his own, every game for a season. JJ is a wet blanket and Hudd has no bite...pussy's the pair of 'em. Get Vieira in to teach them and Livermore (who will be replacing JJ soon enough) how to win a game!

great article i agree with 100%. a joy to read amongst the shit posted usually.

i would feel sick if that goon legend walked out in our colours! he was and still is a great player though, but not for us please!

i still have faith in the hud and ohara, i think they are 2 great players, we should nurchure theier tallent not knock it. ill be honest ive never been a massive fan of jenas though. palacios cant do it on his own though so another competetive player would be good, but lets see if ohara can be that first! modric needs to be free, no good in deep areas, fantastic up front.

in short, another competetive midfielder please levy, but definaely not viera!!

  12. Goon man johnny B someone with a bit of sense spurs are to nice everbody loves to play us. We have no body in the team execpt Palacios with the balls to get stuck in and ruff up the oposing team Roy Keane style.Glad to see the back of Bent did'nt put himself about enough let defenders know your there. Not sure Crouch is the answer can't be any worse.

  13. all this about midfielders... how's about bostock, he's got a left peg & looks good on the ball... i'd give him a good run in the side.
then we can concentrate on buying in a couple of central defenders.

  14. We need a leader of the pack. Vieira has experience and I'd be happy to have him as it would benefit the rest of the team who apart from Palacios, wince out of a challenge and a physical onslaught. Point is proved with Jol acquiring Davids and our subsequent closest challenge to Top 4.

  15. LEADER OF THE PACK MAYBE BUT NOT DOWN THE LANE
HE A HAS BEEN PLUS HE A EX GOONER NEVER DID LIKE HIM AND NEVER WILL LET HIM ROT WHERE HE IS

  16. Why dont us Spurs fans just stop and think for a minute b4 coming out with the bullshit about viera being a gooner scum this and that, and get real for once! The guy was a great player on his day, and i was there when those W*nkers celebrated the title in are back yard! But if this guy comes to this great club and moves us a step further in in the right direction (success) then im for it. I'm sick and tired of all this Bull Crap. All spurs fans hate the scum with a passion. But would'nt you rather be on par with or even better then the scum! and if you remember the greatest goal keeper we ever had left us and went to the scum in his prime, And now he is incharge of our keepers. and when he's around we sing his name (Pat Jennings)so get a life.COYS

  17. Modric HAS to be played in his favoured position, otherwise I can see him leaving in the not to distant future. He came to the prem to improve as a central midfielder and his been stuck out on the left, without I must add any grumblings from the player so far. Play him in his correct position or a team bigger and better will come along a pinch him from us.

  18. What is it with my fellow spurs fans. Huddlestone is not good enough for premier league. Yes he can pass, but thats about it. He's too slow, he can't tackle or jump. Ship him out. We are short in centre mid, need an experienced head i.e. a Davids signing to bring on palacios.

  19. Huddlestone's terrible. Doesn't deserve a look in. No passion, too slow. I remember him saying that he was annoyed that people wanted him to be 'more mobile' because thats 'just not his game'...

good players adapt and look to improve. huddlestone will never improve because his attitude stinks and other than a couple of long passes and a few 'near misses' from 40 yards, he has nothing to his game

  20. I think Vieira would be great for us. Are we dismissing him because he played for Arsenal or do we think he is over the hill (or both). If he played for someone else would we take him. If the answer is yes then we should take him. Yeah we might have Huddlestone, Jenas, Bentley etc etc but none of those guys have a drive and a winning spirit to them. And Spurs do miss this sorely. We might decent technical players but not many with determination to succeed. More than anything the culture at Spurs needs to change and guys like Vieira might be able to help

  21. I disagree, I believe that Jenas and Bentley have the drive and spirit, not to be confused with technical ability in Jenas case. Vierra can no longer cut it physically, even in the pedestrian pace of seria A, probably why he doesn't get too much game time these days. Besides that I don't believe that ol' Whinger would have him back at the Emirates, having watched Vierra recently I would be happy if he did

  22. Just play Bentley! We do not need Viera give the boy a chance and he will become good.

  23. not to bothered about viera as long as we get huntelaar in for bent. bents needs 5 chances to score 1.we need someone who is deadly in front of goal and huntelaars record speaks for itself.
