Spurs have already solved their left wing problem

He's just won the CONCACAF PFA player of the tournament and probably cost as much as Real Madrids' peanuts probably do, plus he can play on the left, so someone please tell me why we don't give Giovani Dos Santos another shot in the first team.

This is a player that on his final game for Barcelona scored a hat trick as well.. A bleedin' hat trick! No one's scored a three in one game for us since the days of Berba, but everything's fine now- we have Crouch, can't you just feel the optimism suddenly rush all back.

It seems as though the Deportivo boss has used his noodle and had this to say: "I know Giovani very well," Lotina was quoted as saying by AS.
"Last year we spoke to him, but then Tottenham came in.
"As for Lafita, well, there is nothing. But if he goes then we will start with plan B. But [Dos Santos] is an interesting player, but he is not the only one."

It's an insult; Giovani can't even get in a team that is captained by Jermaine Jenas. What has our club come to, appointing Redknapp has only brought misery and disappointment

Regards,
Ben

    ...and Premiership survival.

  3. Tottenham were a struggling relagtion bound outfit last year. The appointment of redknapp, a proven succseful survivor of the drop, gave Spurs a top 10 finish and set a sense of stability back into the Football Club. What misery and dissapointment are you on about ?

  4. actually bent scored a hatrick last year!

  8. Too injury prone so far, development player only for us at this stage - wake up and smell the coffee!

  9. I trust in Harry, but would still like to see dos santos get a fair chance. His recent efforts for his national team seems exciting, and he was injured a lot last season so I reckon we haven't seen the best of him.

  10. Crouch & Defoe..... with supply, will be deadly !!!

  11. Im getting alittle pissed off with Harry myself, not giving players like Giovani or Bale a chance and instead picking up all the Pompey rejects, its really doing my head in.
I think come the end of the season alot of Spurs faithful will change there minds on Harry, we want top names, like Huntelaar , not crap like Crouch, i think prehaps Harry thinks he is in a relegation battle before the seasons already begun, bring back Martin Jol i say

  12. Awwh, have you had a bad day in the office Ben?!

I do agree that our transfer dealings thus far have hardly compared to that of previous windows, but I do believe that Crouch in for Bent is a positive swap, especially if we can get £12million plus for the later. I also agree that on paper (and football manager) Gio does deserve another shot at the left wing position, however Harry is no fool, and im sure he knows a hell of a lot more than anyone writing on this blog!

For once can we just put our trust in the manager and just believe in his abilities to take us forward!

  13. bit harsh to blame it on redknapp. when he came we were all over the place. he shored us up, made us hard to beat and saved us from relegation. how can dos santos fit into that team unless you left modric out!?

new season, new optimisim and not in a relegation dogfight so now is the time to give gio a game

  14. What a stupid article. Dos Santos is a lightweight lazy idiot who refused to train or be on time. There have been major issues with him. And he puts his head down and never looks up.

Appointing Redknapp has only brought misery and disappointment? Good god.

  16. there are so many tw*ts on these blog site, not even spurs supporter, ffs get behind the team...

  17. Ben, you obviously know jack shit about Tottenham... and probably football in general.

'by the fans, for the fans' feel to it, I continue to build this blog on the opinion that is always correct, the fans'

what are you chatting?? thats not even good english.

Harry Redknapp has been amazing since he joined spurs. He transformed a poor team into a team that nearly edged european football. Also Jenas isnt the captain... robbie keane is, why i dont know as i hate the little irish traitor but he is.

All that being said, you make a valid point about Dos Santos, he definitely deserves a chance. He isnt any more light weight than Lennon or dickhead keano or modric. In fact when he is fired up he puts himself about.

I also heard Joe Cole is and interest today? he would be perfect alongside palacios, switching with modric on the left when needed.

  18. GDS does deserve a 1st team chance, but Redknapp can only be judged on this season with Spurs as it'll be his first full year in charge. His return of points from games last season was very good, so if he continues in the same vein, I cna't see theres any reason to knock Harry. We finihsed respectfully after a terrible start and had a cup final. the only donwside was that wer missed out on Europe. Next season.

  19. It amazes me how many of you people know nothing about football yet put your opinions on the table as if you're some international / management legend that were born with football boots on.

Go and criticise (support) another team. We dont want you at the Lane.

  20. come on you spurs

  21. Dos Santos was injured for three or four months after Harry arrived. On his return from injury, his form was poor. This summer, he has been away with Mexico in the Gold Cup. So the truth is that you can only guess as to whether he figures in Harry's plans for the coming season. If he doesn't, so what? He hasn't shown nearly enough yet to justify a starting place in the team. He's barely even shown enough to justify a place on the bench. Besides, it's a myth that Spurs are desperate for a left winger. Last season, Luka Modric was superb once he moved to left midfield. I can't see Harry dropping Luka or moving him back to central midfield. And we also have Gareth Bale - a more promising player than Dos Santos, in my opinion and perfect for left midfield.

  22. I like harry but cant but fear what mite happen to our beloved club if he continues as manager, look at southampton now, punched above there weight with big signings to please harry, portsmouth aswell are now in financial ruin coz of harry's spending spree's, dont get me wrong his management is second to none but its not worth it at the expense of our club, i could very well be in the wrong here but it dont look to good imo COYS

  23. I understand the points. The Redknapp thing was suppose to be sarcastic. Its as though people are blaming Redknapp for everything.. sorry i thought it was obvious.. i am not one to critiscise Redknapp. Only to sometimes question his acts

    ReplyDelete
  24. Awful article. What started reasonably well, ended up in idiocy. Try looking over your arguments before you press the post button.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If he's good enough to play 38 games in one season for Barca, he's good enought to play ahead of O'Hara. But then Harry Redknapp never has shown any regard for the history of our club, and as long as he is at the helm we will be premierleague alsorans, playing mediocre football to boot.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Honestly, Ben? You're a right doom-monger!!! I agree that the little Mexican should be given another chance. However, Redknapp is a top manager and as already pointed out, he saved us from a World of Pain in the Championship. Oh, and what's with knocking Crouch before he's even kicked a ball in anger for us? (for the first team, that is - for all you pedants!). For what it's worth, I think the bean pole will do well for us.

  29. Harry is doing the best with what he can at our club... FACT.... we cant compete with most otehr teams financially that are picking up the best players, so he's going for proven, and consistent players. I can't say I agree with all of his decisions, because I dont... I wouldn't have brought Keane back, I would give Dos Santos, Tarrabt, Rose and BALE a chance, and I would have siugned a good CB by now... BUT, and its a big BUT.... His results speak for themselves, he's honest and the players work for him... the transfer window isn't closed, and I'm sure that Harry knows we need more options, and need to clear some dead wood. Give it a week, I have a feeling it's going to be a busy one.

As for Dos Santos, I absolutely creamed when we signed him.. I'm a season ticket holder... what I saw looked promising, but never even nearly ready for this level of intensity, aggression or pace. Dos Santos doesn't want to be loaned out, he wants first team football in a slower paced league. We cant offer him that and he wants to move on. A shame, but also the way it is. He'll come back to bite us in the proverbials, but at this stage, carling cup football and half season loans look like all we can offer. I would agree that we can't risk using him anymore than that.

I'm surprised the author of this column hasnt more importantly noted Gareth Bale as a left sided option.

  30. if i'm not mistaken, everyone said modric was too lightweight last season and look how he adjusted. given, he has a bit more class than gio, but i wouldnt write gio off. a lot of the lack of staying on his feet is style of play, which can be adjusted.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I also definitely think Gio deserves another go. After his recent performances Arry should realise this also. I WILL BE VERY DISSAPOINTED if we loan or sell this player without giving him another go. He was injured for most of his time with us & we never got to see the best of him. I think that given some time & confidence Gio could be a fuckin super star. His performance in the final showed that he is also a big game player.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ok all isn't it time to give the slagging a rest and start backing those that are at the club whether it Keane,Gio, or Gomes. We need to start believing in what we have and if anyone else comes in believe than can improve us. When you are on the stands all the negative feeling is felt by the players which puts them under more strain than needed,if we actually believe in them they may start to believe in themselves and we may just start a season well!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. why is everyone on harry redknapps back? lol its ridiculous. he came in, saved us and now he is being criticized. in relation to other transfer markets he has spent next to nothin.

bar keane who was a pointless purchase, can anyone honestly tell me where he has gone wrong. defoe and crouch offer us evrything we ever need up front, whoever says they dont miss berba are just talking shit. the big man little man is worth another shot. we are seriously lacking goals, its worrying.

AND WHO CAN FORGET PALACIOS. your telling me that was a bad purchase.

The 2 kyles, from what ive seen are superb and Harry's promoted danny rose and livermore to the senior squad.

Most people on here know aboslutely fuck all about spurs.

Another thing, how can he be blamed for the bad finances at 2 clubs lol, the chairmen didnt have to give money to the manager, portsmouth may of had to sell a couple players to balance the books but there not in meltdown, they are on the verge of buying that cardiff striker plus when he joined them they were shit and now they are a mid table team in one of the biggest leagues, if not the biggest league in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gomes!!!!!!!! or Alice Goon ? Get rid of that useless prat....

    ReplyDelete
  35. i'm fed of too many chops and changes, we should start giving some of our younger players the chance to develop. Harry in my view is only short term. We should forget about the exciting football we all crave. its obviously the long ball tactics from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Giovani never played 38 games in one season for Barca.

Again someone that hasn't a clue what they are talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Everyone wants to go on about how giovanni is lightweight, bluddy modric is lightweight, gio is bigger built than modric, modric just had more time to find his feet becoz of the huge price tag, if gio would of cost us more he would have been given more of a chance, theo walcott is lightweight, steven pienaar is lightweight, ashley cole is lightweight, doesnt mean there not good players, he aint been given a chance, redknapp doesnt give anyone new a chance, our team will be gomes, corluka, woodgate, king, ekotto, modric, jenas, palacios, lennon, crouch and defoe, he will play that team as often as possible, and players such as gio, naughton, bostock, rose, bale and huddlestone will never get a long run...... if gio is really that light send the boy to the gym, he has raw ability something jenas doesnt have

    ReplyDelete
  38. Can I reiterate that my last sentence was sarcastic concerning Redknapp. I believe I am a realistic Spurs fan.. look through my other posts.
Everyone has an opinion. I am fully supportive of Redknapp as I was with Jol, Ramos and Hoddle before their sackings.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You obviously don’t support spurs. “appointing Redknapp has only brought misery and disappointment” before he came we had 2 points form 8 games, when redknapp came we finished 8th so close to Europe. Yes I agree geo is a talent but the premiership demands more then just talent that’s why it’s the best league in the world, I just don’t think he has that desire when he puts on a spurs shirt, I feel he’s only using our club as a stepping stone. Maybe I’m wrong but what little I’ve seen of him so far he needs to step up his game

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think Gio is a exciting player, but still has a long way to go to be the winger we are looking for, but that doesnt stop him having a run out here of there, how many of our pre season games has he featured in?

    ReplyDelete
  41. as a spurs fan i belive we have a lot of knobs and football manager players that blog on here.we arent a team that can attract the very best(thats not redknapps fault)like hunterlaar.we need to accept that and get behind the team.its about time we brought players that work for the team and not fancy dans, support the team and manager.and i hope he brings in vieira

  42. As much as we Spurs fans witter on about our signings we are destined once again for mid table mediocrity. This will remain until we sort out our left sided problem and rearrange our shakey defence and sadly keeper issues are still at the forefront! Fair enough Dos Santos needs a run out if he dosen't prove himself bladder him next summer. I love Ledley but we can no longer entertain someone who can't train anymore, we have to move on.
We have made some cracking signings but lack leadership in the middle, Viera I doubt is the answer, one season at the most and all of that he would spend getting booed!
Harry is the man for now but I can't help think we could do with a takeover from a hideousley rich consortium and finally shake the makeweights out of the club we love!

  43. For Fuck sake do half of the people on here actually watch Spurs? I agree with the guy who has highlighted Harry's sigings as they are probably the reason we stayed up along with Harry's man management and Gomes is a good keeper he'll be better this year now he knows the prem. To many with to much to say and not enough brains

    ReplyDelete
  44. If I hear someone else say "get behind the team" I'll go nuts. We have standards at Tottenham, and when they aren't met, we will voice our discontent.

Can all the "Get behind the team" squad piss off to West Ham, I'm sure they'd be happier. They're always smiling and cheering even when they get relegated.

    ReplyDelete
  45. GDS was like many of our recent signings a project for the future (See also Bale, Gunter, Dervite, Taarabt, Bostcok) The only trouble is they were not bought in by Harry, and as we all know managers have their favourites ( See Defoe, Crouch, Distin (I hope not)Monatri)ergo Gunter has gone Taarabt is on loan, Dervite will be soon. Bale is supposidlty being chased by som eof Europes finest (They can't all be wrong).
We have to develope these kids and give them a chance, as O'Hara provced last season.
Its time to look within as our Academy team is one of the best in the world going by the International tournament that they constantly win.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Crouch is a good buy! Like Harry rightly says, he's different to the other strikers we already have, can hold the ball up and bring other people into play - like Sheringham used to do very well. The other 3 strikers like to shoot on sight if possible so he will create a good mixture.

I do however agree that Dos Santos needs at least one more season before we decide to let him move on - at the very least until January!
How can you sell a Mexican international until he's at least had 2 or 3 starts in the team??

Apart from that, Harry is doing a very good job of not only blooding our youngsters, but also loaning promising players out to keep them keen and sharp. If and when Bent goes (I hope he stays personally) then we at least know we have the likes of Obika to step in, ready.

    ReplyDelete
  47. redknapp is a fantastic manager he just dont really know what he is doing when it comes to transfers!! 10m for peter crouch, and the thought of viera at tottenham just scares me surely that deal can not go through!!
and yes i agree that dos santos does deserve a go in the first team along with some other younger players like some of the team that played the second half against barcalona in the wembley cup!! i think we should sell bently and darren bent!! i was really excited about david bently came to us but he has flopped majorly and well darren bent is just shit!! oh yea and i think we should cash in on jenas and o'hara they are both very weak and i dont think either of them are good enough for a team that is meant to be pushing for europe!!! anyway enough about transferes, i still think it was a good decision bringing in harry and i have faith that he will do good things for the club

    COYS

  48. Gio used to be a one-trick pony, but now he is maturing and hardening. His electric runs, albiet from right to left, are supported by excellent vision for that 'killer' pass. He has also developed the ability to let it rip from outside the box, and anyone who witnessed his goal against Haiti in the Gold Cup will know what i'm talking about. His shortcomings are that he's a defensive liability, but what can we expect- not everyone plays like Wayne Rooney!
I say 'Arry needs to give him another chance- this kid is going to come good in a very big way. It would be awesome to see it happed at WHL.
    COYS!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. We are all talking going by what we read on the papers, Harry Redknapp is an experienced manager a good motivator, he sees dos santos in training everyday, he knows about his attitude ,fitness, mood and everything else...I also hope Dos santos gets a chance on the left wing but whether it will happen or not only god knows..Football is a strange game, during the season one injury might open the door for dos santos and he may never look back..I think it will be Livermores year this year though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. "Realistic" Tottenham fans are the ones who dont care when we're bottom of the league, think being 8th is good, and would smile and cheer their way through relegation.

All I want to hear about is "realistic" Gooners who accept and dont complain when they stop being touted as potential champions.

When there is no fan pressure, those who run the club dont put the effort in.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Why don't we all wait until the season actually begins, and we see what Harry is actually going to do in terms of team selection, tactics and results and then comment on who we think should and should not play. We may have more players by the start of the season, and we may not. Gio may well be in Harry's plans, and may not. Jenas may have gone to Villa (please, please God) and may not. Point is, we don't know anything other than Harry did indeed save us last season, has begun the process of restructuring the club with a new Chief Scout and network as well as scrapping the reserve team and going for more loaning out to find out about players, and has given himself and us the opportunity to see who cares about our club and who doesn't, and who will have to play their socks off tomorrow if they want to be part of the team this season. It's up to Harry to show us what more he can do and I hope he is outstandingly successful. Also bear in mind, that unlike other recent managers, he has had operate on a self-financing transfer policy in this window due to Mr. Levy having had his arms shortened and his pockets made deeper. Come on Harry and COYS

  52. There are several options on the left hand side. Gio has shown that he is a bit on the light weight side, but injury has prevented him getting a fair crack of the whip, but from what we have seen he has'nt taken his oportunities. As a lightweight mmmmmmmmmm what about Modric or Lennon ? Maybe he just is'nt suited to the Prem. Bale has'nt suddenly become less talented, maybe he is the answer but I would like to see Harry bring in an experienced winger JUST AFTER HE BRINGS IN A CB. Please Harry

  53. i have a friend in the know and apparently gio is an absolute nightmare! He is always pissed! he was supposed to play for mexico a while back and never turned up, he was found pissed up in some shitty flat in london! shame as i believe he couldv'e been great for us!

  54. ITS ALWAYS HARRY IS DOING THE BEST HE CAN WITH WHAT HE HAS GOT, WELL THATS NOT TRUE, AS HE HAS GOT LOTS OF PLAYERS WORTH A FEW PENNIES THAT CAN BE SOLD, BUT HE ALSO HAS NO AMBITION TO CHALLENGE FOR THE TITTLE AND IS REIGNED IN BY THE MYSTERIOUS MIDGET OTHERWISE KNOWN AS MR PROFIT DANIEL LEVY...

    MY QUESTIONS ARE SIMPLY.....

    1. WHY IS GIO NOT GIVEN A CHANCE
    2. WHY IS LEDLEY STILL THERE?

HARRY HIMSELF SAID THAT HE WAS FINDING IT HARD TO DO DEALS BECAUSE THE CHAIRMAN ALWAYS WANTS A RETURN, PRICING US OUT OF HUNTELAAR, FORCING US TO WAIT UNTIL BENT IS 99% GONE BEFORE WE BUY CROUCH, ETC, ETC.....

WE HAVE BEEN TURNED INTO A MID TABLE TEAM WITH NO AMBITION BUT POTENTIAL FOR A CUP RUN EACH YEAR....ITS A JOKE....BUT TO LEVY A VERY PROFITABLE ONE....

IMO, Harry is doing the best with what we can get.. we cannot attract the top players we (the fans want) simply because we can't offer any European football. thru my eyes it looks like Harry is buying proven mediocre players, shoring up the weak areas to get us to the position next season or maybe the one after that where we are solid, balanced and into a Euro competition, then maybe he will add a player or two that will dazzle..every year we scream for new players, and we get 1/2 a team or more, which screws up balance and any cohesion we may have had .. you cant replace 1/2 the team every year and expect a top 6 (or higher) finish.. add the pieces little by little, have a little faith in 'Arry, and above all, use some patience. Don't get me wrong, i love Spurs and would love us to win the league every year, but if we finish 10th after this season, lets do better next season.. in today's game you have to have stability, managerial, financial and the players. Spurs, sadly have a tradition of wholesale changes, no wonder the media links us with every tom, dick, and harry that can kick a ball.. we have proven over the years that not only can we have a new manager every week, but we can keep a revolving door for players turning too.. and then WE, the fans wonder why players don't want to play for us... unless they are looking for a quick paycheck.

All i'm saying is, have some faith in Harry, we are not going to challenge for honors overnight, we have to build the team over a few seasons. then pick weak links and improve.. piece by piece.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Personally, I think Dos Santos is a genious. He is no more light-weight than Lennon or Modric. I think Gio on the left would be brilliant. Lennon and Him could switch sides throughout the game and scare the crap out of defenders. Not to mention the service Dos Santos would provide for Crouch and Defoe. He creates tons of space and draws defenders to him. It would be magic!

  57. you dickheads that can't see Redknapp for what he is make me sick - and you claim to be Spurs fans and football experts? he is taking this club back years and you are cheering him on. mugs

  58. So, Tottenham aren't captained by Jenas, they are captained by Robbie Keane. Berba was not the last Spurs player to score a hat-trick, that was Bent. What else don't you know about the club you 'support'? At least Crouch is an England regular, that's more than you can say for the rest of the squad. Have a bit of faith. COYS!

DEFOE & CROUCH CAN P[LAY TOGETHER EVEN CAPELLO PICKS CROUCH FOR EVERY ENGLAND SQUAD ARE YOU TELLING ME HE KNOWS NOTHING EITHER, GIVE HARRY A BREAK REMEMBER ITS THE TEAM ITS NOT ALL ABOUT BIG NAMES I BET ANYOF YOU ON HERE GOALS PER GAME OUR STRIKERS WILL SCORE MORE GOALS THAN THE £100M STRIKE FORCE OF MAN CITY!

  62. GIo is a good player but I truely cant see him in the team on a regular basis. Can you imagine a midfield of Gio,Modric,Lennon and Palacios!. The likes of Stoke would have a field day. The land of the midgets!!.As Harry said , the squad is unbalanced. We should leave him to fine tune the squad. Its not his squad but he might need to shift a few to get the players he wants. Geting rid of JJ for one would be a good start! How anyone knowledgable in the game can see what benefit(Apart from Mid table mediocrity)he brings us is beyond me. He is a good enough player but if you need to raise the bar a notch we need better. End of.

We all want our team to do better but we don't want to/can't do it the Chavski or man shitty way.
you cant have success overnight. it makes a great fairy tale, but the reality is one step at a time.. (just look at Leeds) sadly alot of fans (not only Spurs, but English fans in general) cannot see that. we don't want to be a southern version of Newcastle...

    ReplyDelete
  64. Not everybody wants "big name" signings, what most most people want is players brought in for the positions we need them in! Strikers-NO, Right backs-NO......Goalkeeper-YES, Centreback-YES, Left winger-YES!!!!!!!! Can the hierarchy at THFC not see this, it has been happening for 5/6 years. COYS
Rebrov was truly rubbish wasn't he! Still could be worse I work in Newcastle most of my mates are Geordies now they have got it bad eh! lol

  65. Anyone who saw the Celtic game would realise that O'Hara lacks the guile to help us step up a level. He doesn't see the early pass and takes too long on the ball. I do like him, but I don't think he has what we need...I mean why do we want a left footer who persists on taking the ball on to his right foot and then struggle to get room to put it back on to his left foot - surprise surprise, no time to get a cross in...

    ReplyDelete
  66. linked with Huntelaar get crouch just about sums us up. Gone is the traditional passing and say hello to hoof to crouch up front I wouldnt mind but he cant even head a ball very well and as for Robbie Keane all he does is run and point should never have brought him back he is past it. I know crouch will prob get a few goals Keane likewise but we are hardly gonna push the top 4 top 10 if we are lucky...........

  67. I saw Gio play against Costa Rica in the Gold Cup. Overall I would say his play was alright. He shows some flashes of brilliance, but he definitely did not dazzle against Costa Rica. Might one day be a great player, but I personally don't think he is currently ready for first team football in the EPL.

Its the silly smallminded idiotic majority of our fans who think weve got the god given right to be in top four every season.I'll tell you what we will do, we'll get rid of harry , six months down the line we will get rid of our next high profile manager because he didnt get us top 4 in a year , then we will get in fergie and do the same to him and then mourinho then wenger then benites then moyes then o niell then WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, no manager will ever be given enough time to prove themselves because were so F****** special . when was the last time we finished higher than fifth and how many managers since then,Have a little count for yourselves, the reason for our abysmal record is our so called fans who probably never go to game.

  71. Are we a team that can afford to take a "chance" on a player or do we need proven players?

If Harry thinks he can afford to give Dos Santos a chance then I think he should...I've watched this kid play for Barca and Mexico and he can certainly cut it at that level. Saying he is too lightweight for the Premier League is a joke...Lennon, SWP, and Defoe to name a few. However I do think he needs to toughen up a bit.

Definately not worth us spending 15m+ on someone who will be just as much as a gamble. (excluding Joe Cole, I'd have him on our left!!)

  72. Gio has never played a match as a midfielder in his entire life. Stop talking utter garbage you idiots. He's a striker/support striker, NOT A LEFT WINGER. In fact he made most of his appearances for Barca in an advanced roll on the RIGHT!!!

    Clueless idiots!

I really tire of some of the people that support my beloved Spurs sometimes!!!!!
All these young players we have are great but we've tried this young player thing for the past 4 years & we haven't broke the top four.
Let's see how we go this year, a good mix of youth & experience is what's needed.
As for Crouch he's an England international & Bent for me is the biggest waste of £16 million in a long time. Talk to season ticket holders about him if you don't believe me..... :0)

  77. @28 July 2009 09:09: I disagree, how can he deemed lightweight yet Modric is fine, as is Lennon. They are all roughly the same height and body size. Giovani holds the ball up very well, has speed and does track back.

If I was Levy I would force 'Arry to utilise players on the books instead of selling to buy the same.

We have no idea whether or not he will cut in the Premiership as he hasn't been given a chance. Many thought Modric was out of depth under Ramos and now he's one of the first on the team sheet.

I just wish, for once, that we give one of the youngsters a fighting chance. He's young and in a completely different world. New language, new culture, new club, so why hasn't 'Arry put his arm around him and nurtured the boy?

Has everyone forgot that this is same 'Arry Redknapp that spent £6m on David Nugent while he was at Portsmouth only to let him rot and then bought John Utaka. The Chairman needs to step in and implement a policy that the youth we buy are given a fair shot.

Hopefully the exposure Dervite is getting helps him adapt. He seems really nervous and too keen to impress.

  78. WOW!!! We spurs fans are opinionated. I think Harry is very smart and knows the the EPL like the back of his hand. Harry tells fibs, misleads and likes to play fans and the media for fools. BUT...at the same time he makes brilliant moves behind the scenes everytime. Its ok that you guys dislike Harry....no manager is exempt from criticism, but I truly belive Harry will get Spurs into shape and turn spurs into a TOP TEAM in the next few seasons. IN THE NEXT FEW SEASONS....NOT this one. Give Harry a couple seasons to mould the team and develop chemistry between players. He knows what he's doing...BIG TIME!!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. lol u say cuz hes a lightweight?? look at modric, lennon, and many other players that are just fine. and someone is saying if we put him in the lineup that will leave modric out??
im guessing ur a jenas fan m8?? modric CM and jenas OUT . dos santos is what we were looking for, for AGES

  80. They got so much things to say.. (as per the great man Bob Marley)..

    Left side mf potential ..

Modric, Dos Santos, Bale, O'Hara(love the passion), Keane or Defoe depending on opposition, Rose, Bostock, Ekotto could do a job there.

Get real.. couple more signings it's a great squad.

  81. We might want palyers like Huntelaar but realistically we will not get players like him wihtout CL football. Harry is doing right by our club so stop moaning and get behind the team!

    ReplyDelete
  82. The reason that both Ramos and now HR won;t play GDS is that id he bothers to turn up to training, he is invariably late.
He has a discipline and attitude problem. It kind of makes sense as barca don't normally let telented kids gol.

    ReplyDelete
  83. look it does not matter who sign they have got want to play for the manager the players did not want too play for ramos

  84. y we getin crouch wen we got bent, bent never played all of the season but still got in the top ten scorrers 4 prem and scoreed more goals than the likes of rooney, gerrad and lamps in the prem but in stead of stickin with aplayer who no's were the bk of the net is we get crouch who scores less and plays more games. i dnt get it, also hope gio does get i the first team hes like another lennon fats winger image tht 2 lennos on the wings we be unstopable. also wtf r these fans sayin about redknap he kept us up in the prem we were gettin told by al the scummy arsenal fans sayin were goin dwn u should stick with the manager how can u call ur self a spurs fan.

    ReplyDelete
  85. As I said earlier someone will try and justify Crouch by saying "he's an England player," so what does that mean?? Just look at his record, we researched it two days ago, his highest tally of prem goals for a season, with whichever team, is TWELVE!! Huntelaar's record in league is 3X that of Crouch, which isn't difficult. As for Dos Dontos, what bollocks about late for training, he was fine at Barca, Spurs and Ipswich, who incidentally are begging for him back. In the recent America's cup, their equivalent to our European championships, he was awarded Man of the Tournament. He left Barca to get first team footy because he was'nt going to out the current left winger or the left wingback. Like others he does not fit with "Arry," prime example Bentley. On fire at Blackburn comes to spurs and "Arry" plays him on the left or mostly not at all, another one who became a bad player overnight! For god's sake stop talking crap

  90. Dos Santos was not given a chance because we were in a relegation battle. Simple.. This season hopefully he will be keep in the squad and given a chance to compete for a place on the left wing... Given that he will be coming back from Mexico with confidence ski high and in peak condition from playing competitive matches, it is his best opportunity to impress.. Lets hope he gives had something to think about and Harry gives him his chance to play..

    ReplyDelete
  91. Harry is quite cunning and has already proved this by the way he turned round the season last year. Crouch in and Bent out works well for the club, we make money on the deal and someone else will join us in another area of the team. I am sure we will be even stronger when this window has finished.

But he did get us survival but everyone should know he is overrated as a manager but good enough for a relegation scrap like sam allardyce.

    ReplyDelete
  94. gio is class,, his natural position is the support striker but im sure he can adapt to playing on the left wing,, hes got the skill and pace to beat defenders and freat crossing ability.. his recent competition he was the player of the tournement and hes only 20 he did everything scored goals set up goals won penalties just what spurs need.. i say the lad deserves a chance to show what he can do.. one thing for sure he will be a star i just hope tottenham keep hold of him

Any fool could have saved us when Harry took over, cause when he came in he told Levy that Comolli and Co. had to go!! Was Jol given that choice, was Ramos? Was any manager we had for the last decade nearly?? NO!!! Crouch reunited with Harry fills me with Dread rather than longing. GDS deserves his place in squad ala his MVP in the CONCACAF finals!! We are a team of mediocre players with the odd shining light just like always..COYS

  96. Redknapp a real amature and have no idea about continental football .buying another centre forward and have an empty midfield !!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. First things first. One cannot argue with Harry's results, although our spell over the Christmas holidays last year cost us top 6. Reality is, any Spurs fan would have happily taken 8th place after Harry took over. Good on him, good on SPURS. As to Dos Santos, he's a world class player who was good enough for Barcelona first team and is first team with Mexico, no questions asked. Is he better than O'Hara, undeniably. I'd like to see him play in the place of Jenas and work with Modric in the middle causing all sorts of problems for other defences. Huddlestone needs regular time to show what he's got as does Bale. The talent's there. Redkanpp's job is to harness it. Jenas has had his chance. He doesn't cut it. Defoe couldn't time a run if his life depended on it and he is a poorer passer than Staltieri. Give the kids a run this year and save the money. Sell on Bent, Jenas, Defoe, Chimbonda, Hutton etc. Play Livermore, Huddlestone, Modric, Bale, Assou Ekotto, Dos Santos, Crouch, Keane, Lennon, Rose, Pavlyuchenko. Buy a couple of reliable CB's with the surplus money. Reality is King and Woodgate will likely never be able to play week in and week out. That's a real concern. Yes, we should support SPURS with all that we have, but one must also acknowledge that we never seem to blood our homegrown talent. We just spent millions to get Crouch back. Who will be next?

  100. everyone needs to stop kissing redknapps ass, we are tottenham, we play attractive passing football to make up for a lack of titles, fuck redknapp, he made the worst signing in tottenham history when he signed keane, then he made him captain, disgrace to spurs

    ReplyDelete
  101. 'Arry sees the players in training everyday and we should trust his judgement. If not, there's no point in him being manager. He's always admitted that he's not a modern coach or a brilliant tactician. But he boasts proudly that he can "spot" a player. He knows which players can do the job for him and which can't. He's done pretty well so far, so I say let him get on with it!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I was not convinced when HR became our manager.
But after seeing the progress, particularly at the end period of last season. I can gladly say we are having a proper manager in charge. He may not be world class but he obviously knows the English league.

I am happy with the way he is trying to build a system/platform for us. We are a great club but with limited luck ;-) it'd be wiser to move up one step at a time. Finish 5th this year and we will be looking for better players next window.

    coys!

  103. OMG - Does no one know that the reason GDS didnt play first season was because Barcelona insisted on a buy back clause in his contract?!?! They didnt play him because they didnt want him to excel because tehn barcelona wouldve activated that clause. He will play this season.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Keano is captain you muppet.
Dos Santos is too light weight and will not make it in the prem, Barca would not have sold Dos Santos if he was any good and had promise. We have O'Hara and Bale who could both do a better job out there, they need faith and a run in the side.

    ReplyDelete
  105. from where we were to where we ended up .. redknapp did what he was brought to do.

why does every one insist on bringing jol back... awesome manager but 2 years since he was sacked.

new stadium, promising young team, get behind harry.

ps if dos santos was that good 1... barca wouldnt have sold him especially at 4.5 million
2... someone better than ipswich would have took him on loan :-)

    ReplyDelete
  106. i almost agree with ben, we need to start playing gio, he's got so much ability but its just like us to let quality players leave without playing them!
we need to stop wasting our time on players like o'hara and jenas and bring in some quality.

    ReplyDelete
  107. i don't understand it either to be honest, but he doesn't look in place as much as he does in the right forward position... check out my recent post about gio on ibleedhotspur.wordpress.com

    just recently started it

    ReplyDelete
  108. GIO IS A RIGHT WINGER, AND NOT VERY GOOD - I can't argue this enough - he can not play on the left in the Premiere League. The reasons? The entire Gold Cup run was made against a lower class of player - CONCACAF third tier players - all the major CONCACAF players are in league play right now and were not playing in the Gold Cup. This success was an aberation because he played against no one. Second, Sven played Gio for Mexico earlier several times this spring, and once against the US when he played oposite to Beasley (yes, the same doofus playing in the Confederation and not playing for Fulham) and Beasley tore him apart, scoring once. Third, Dos Santos was benched by the same Sven for not training with Mexico lasgt fall. Finally, didn't his loan teach you anything? Ipswithc didn't want him even though they had an option to buy.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Nobody's mentioned Bale as an option for left midfield, 'cause he's a poor man's Stewart Downing. If Bale is to have a future in the game, it'll be at left back.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Comparing anything Dos Santos does in the GOLD CUP to anything in EUROPE is like calling Kermit the Frog a Shakespearean Actor. Quit it. Gio plays for Mexico against teams that resemble Andorra and my 350 pound nan could win the Man of the Cup award in America.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I never write on these things but I have to agree I see no reason why Santos should not be given a fair run of half a dozen games to see, as the boy can play no doubt. To suggest he is too lightweight is not really the point, there have been many many skillfull lightweight players who have made a tremendous impact in the Premiership.

However to suggest "Redknapp has only brought misery and disappointment" is just stupind and mindless!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Redknapp didnt wave some magic wand, he spent best part of 30mill. If westbrom had that sort of money to spend do u think they would be in the championship this season?
Dos Santos needs a run in the team, i think he will eventually become a better winger than lennon, he has more tricks, can cross the ball and has a better eye for a goal.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yes and Andorra are as good as the USA??? ok they might not be the same standed as Portugal, Italy etc but they are no push overs. And getting player of the cup is no mean feet in any comp esp on int. level. it is true Gio plays better on the right like messi but still he is good. And no wonder he missed training last year, Ramos sold him a top 4 team and playing time. We give him a bench and a mid table finnish. And he left one of the top teams in the world for that. I think if we sell him as with Pav it will be a big mistake. Harry even wanted to sell Mod last year!

And on another note, why does Harry want to reassemble his old pompey team at spurs? Why Crouch, why... We do not nead him. He is a very good manager but he has no vision.

    ReplyDelete
  114. no disrespect, well actually a lot of disresepect cos this blog sounds like another armchair fan writer who has time on his hands to create a blog about a team he follows

you cant criticise harry or we would be in the championship with the magpies

    ReplyDelete
  115. its true some talent will go by wayside but Harry will get a team that plays and has some back bone- fully agree that need to trust Harry- though not great fan of his but do admire his honesty, shrewdness and experience.

    ReplyDelete
  116. "Rather have been relegated under Ramos then survied under that dick."

What planet are you on, We've got a good manager in charge, buying players who will work in the Prem and not just a "big Name" for the sake of it - Form what i've seen of GDS he ain't good enough, but he's been adjusting to a new league and enw country, give him some game time from the bench see if he can make an impact - Carling Cup games as a starter.
If he doesn't make it then let him go.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I do think we take the wrong approach to the 'bright young stars' that we always sign. The likes of Dos Santos, KPB and Taraabt shouldn't have to play 2 or 3 years in the reserves or out on loan before they feature for the first team - in that time they invariably disappear from the radar and end up getting sold off for peanuts having cost the club 3 years of resources. If they've got as much talent as they're meant to have then put them in the first team straight away, give them a good run for a couple of months then get rid of them if they're obviously not good enough. If they are that good, then they'll adapt and we may end up with a finished product for once.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Why don`t we just by a dm and play 4-2-3-1 with now Crouch in front of Modric, Defoe, and Lennon. Keane, and Pav as subs.
With M/Def/L roaming around "Crutch" it would leave room for off.left, and right backs like Hutton/corluka and Maybe Chimbi on the right. And offcourse, no oncourse mostpleasentpositivsuprice of last season on the left. u now who.
But which DM should we buy?

    ReplyDelete
  119. modric and ohara interchanging centre and left today. O'hara man of the match. It's the 'one game mentality' that seems to form a lot of fans opinions. O'hara is a good squad player, versatile (left back, left mid, centre mid) and puts the effort in for the club.

And Frankly nobody here knows what Harry thinks of gio, why? because they are not Harry ffs. second guessing (and badly).

And why this 'deserves a chance'? On what basis does a player we haven't seen much of 'deserve a chance'. What sort of lunatic would have you play Gio ahead of Modric if both fit?

Modric is tough, creative and has the right attitude and pulled the strings today against a poor West Ham.

Gio has played recently in a competition where the best competition was USA's b-team. SO man of the tournam, ent, whoop-a-dee doo!

Huntelaar has scored a shit load in the dutch league and international, well crouch has one of the best england scoring ratio's around so what does that mean? PLus he has the benefit of 'not having to spend time to adapt'. OK long term Huntellar may be a better acquisition, but let's get real, we don't have the right manager to take high price risks. He's fit for purpose that's all.

  122. Harry Redknapp did a fantastic job last season. Saved us from relegation. But he is a mid-table manager with mid-table mentality, who makes mid-table signings. Highest league finish he has achieved with any club... anyone? There is a massive difference between keeping a team up and taking them forward.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Some very negative comments on here.. For me I can't understand them, I think we have a good manager in Harry, I remember reading that he was the second most experienced manager in the prem after Sir Alex.. You don't stay in the league that long unless you are good?

  125. Mid table managers don't win things? could be because they are at clubs that don't have resources to do any better?
Harry won the FA cup when was spending a bit for Pompey, He won lower leagues to get teams promoted with limited resources.. But given the resources at Tottenham, Why can't he win things for them? I really think he could, maybe I'm mistaken but we will be able to make a judgement after he has had a full season in charge. So lets wait and see!!!!

Also I get the impression could have some arsenal fans on here winding us up with some these stupid ill informed comments...
